Magaya Automated Export System
The Magaya Automated Export System (AES) plug in enables you to comply with US Customs filing requirements by
sending your export shipment documentation electronically to US Customs from within Magaya software to the AES.
The Automated Export System (AES) is the online system to file the Electronic Export Information (EEI) (formerly
called the Shipper’s Export Declaration (SED) ) and the ocean manifest information directly to US Customs.
How It Works
When you create an export shipment in your Magaya software program, click the US Customs button on the Shipment
Toolbar to send the EEI to AES. All the information from your shipment will be automatically filled into the
AES form, including Schedule B export codes, Schedule K and D codes, IATA, SCAC and license type codes. These
codes are built into Magaya software so you can add them to your shipments easily. You do not have to re-type any
shipment data into the AES form. The AES program runs a verification procedure on the data you are sending to check
that all the required information is included. Any fields that did not pass the validation are marked with the
appropriate error message. You can fix any errors before sending the data to the AES. The Magaya system also
automatically records the XTN number and filing date after the EEI is accepted by the AES. The Magaya AES will
connect to AESDirect to retrieve the ITN number. This information is filled into the shipment documentation such as
the air waybill.
AES Requirements to Get Started
To use the AES feature in Magaya software, you must first have an account on the AESDirect website. Go to www.AESDirect.gov
and fill in the form. There is no cost to create an account with AES. Follow the instructions on AES website for their requirements.
It will take one to two days to get an authorized account with AES. They will send you an account user name and password.
What is AES?
The Automated Export System (AES) is a joint venture between the U.S. Customs Service, the Foreign Trade Division of the Bureau of the
Census (Commerce), the Bureau of Export Administration (Commerce), the Office of Defense Trade Controls (State), other federal agencies,
and the export trade community. These agencies have created the AESDirect website, a central point for the shipment data these agencies
require.
The AESDirect website was designed to assure compliance with and enforcement of laws relating to exporting, to improve trade statistics,
reduce duplicate reporting to multiple agencies, and improve customer service. You do not have to file a paper version of the EEI when you
use the AESDirect website. AES is a nationwide system that you can use no matter what US port you ship from.
